Ouse Valley Way hike raises over £7000 for local charities
On October 24, I set out to walk the whole of the 150-mile length of the Ouse Valley Way to raise money for the four local charities that I have selected for my Mayoral year. Unlike previous Mayors, I was unable to rely on traditional fundraising events (such as charity golf days and Mayor’s balls) because of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, I decided to undertake a mammoth sponsored walk along the length of the Ouse that tested every ounce of my physical capacity and mental fortitude.
I completed the walk in 8 days, 5 hours and 22 minutes which has been recognised as the Fastest Known Time for completing the whole route.
Thanks to the outstanding generosity of St Neots people, businesses and community groups I raised over £7300 for my charities.
