The vision for the future of Market Square and the High Street

During my time as a councillor, and during the last year as Mayor, I have passionately championed local business, and especially Market Square and the High Street. In fact my first act as Mayor was to get every elected representative for St Neots (from Town Council to the MP) to sign an open letter that pleaded with residents to support local businesses:

The Hunts Post invited me to write two newspaper columns, in which I outlined my vision for the future of St Neots, in the first I defend the pedestrianisation project which has reclaimed our historic Market Square from its longtime status as a dirty carpark:

In the second article I describe how Market Square is destined to regain its status as the cultural and economic heart of St Neots (and the surrounding villages):

These plans will only be realised if all levels of local government work together. During my time as Mayor I have worked hard to forge a productive working relationship with HDC and CCC that has helped to deliver the £12 million Future High Street Fund investment in St Neots.

I have also led the engagement with residents and local businesses, to try and make sure that this is a shared vision for the future, and not another unrealistic plan dreamt up by local politicians in their ivory towers:
